Tricerion's out-of-band controls offer another type of multi-factor authentication - one that adds a very effective layer of protection without adding to your hardware expense. Out-of-band actions are fraud prevention measures that take place outside the primary communication channel that is being used. They are employed when a user's online activity or particular e-commerce transaction are considered high-risk.
Suppose a user has logged on to your system to conduct an online transaction. For reasons you have pre-determined, you want them to re-confirm their identity by having them enter a one-time password on a Tricerion SafeLogin keypad provided for the situation. You can deliver the password to a device outside of the online dialogue; for example, to the user's cell phone or email. The user can only proceed with the transaction by retrieving the password from the out-of-band source to which he alone has access, and then entering it on the keypad. It's a solution that may make sense for your organization - and can be a part of your Tricerion SafeEnterprise Platform.
